CNOOC Bids for Tanzanian Oil and Gas Block

On Thursday, an executive of Tanzania Petroleum Development showed that among those international corporations who participated in bid for Tanzanian oil and gas block, CNOOC (China National Offshore Oil Corporation), an offshore oil giant in China and Gazprom, a Russian state-owned enterprise had took the lead.
Tanzania Petroleum Development Company claimed that less than six corporations participated in the bid held on last Thursday for oil gas block offered by the company.
Based on the estimation from Tanzania, total reserves of gas in the block are more than 46 trillion cubic feet (about 1.3 trillion cubic meters).
Tanzania Petroleum Development Company shows that all of bidding documents are being evaluated. The corporation who wins bidding will be invited to negotiate with Tanzanian government and the company for Production Sharing Agreements. Result will be announced in the next two months.
Others bidding with CNOOC for 4/3A oil and gas block are Statoil ASA in Norway and ExxonMobil Corp in the U.S. 4/3A oil and gas block is located at south sea of Tanzania.
Only Gazprom bids for 4/3B gas and oil block.
Mubadala and Ras Al Khaimah Gas LLC located at Saudi Arabia also bid for gas and oil Block.
