Wafer check valves are a kind of general one-way valves. Wafer check valves have advantages of light weight and small volume. They can be installed between flanges easily. The valve inside consists of two semi-circle springs and deck. Springs fixed on valve body by pin deform to close plate. Fluid pressure accelerates deformation of springs, preventing pipeline from being damaged by water hammer.
Characteristics of wafer check valves:
1. Short face to face dimension. Face to face dimension of wafer check valves is only 1/4 to 1/8 of conventional flanged check valves.2. Low volume, light weight. Weight of wafer check valves is only 1/4 to 1/20 of conventional flanged check valves.
3. Disc turns off rapidly, causing low pressure of water hammer.
4. Wafer check valves can be installed at both horizontal pipeline and vertical pipeline. The installation is convenient.
5. Smooth passageway, less fluid resistance.
6. The whole structure is simple and compact, having beautiful modeling.
7. Disc has short stroke and less impact force.
8. Having sensitive operation and excellent sealing.
9. Having long service life and reliable sealing.
Installation notes of wafer check valves:
1. When used for pipelines, passages direction of wafer check valves should be consistent with flow direction.2. For vertically pipelines, wafer check valves should be placed vertically.
3. An extension tube should be placed between wafer check valves and butterfly valves. Wafer check valves cannot be connected with other types of valves directly.
4. Pipe joints and obstructions are not allowed inside radius of operation of valve plate.
5. A reducer is not allowed to be installed in forward or back ward of wafer check valves.
6. When installing wafer check valves around elbows, enough large space should be kept.
7. When installing wafer check valves at outtake of pumps, space which is 6 times of valves’ diameter should be kept so that disc can endure fluid pressure.
