Ball valves are a type of commonly used valves, having high usage amount and consumption. So reasonable maintenance cannot only improve work efficiency of ball valves, but also reduce maintenance time and save replacement cost. 

 

To enhance ball valves' performance and service life, the following factors need to be noticed 

 

1. Before usage, pipeline and body should be cleaned by using water to prevent remained scrap iron and other sundries from entering into lumen of body.

2. When the valves are closed, some of media are remained inside body and the body also bears definite pressure. Before checking, the stop valve before ball valve should be closed firstly. Open the ball valves which need to be checked. Release the pressure inside body completely. In terms of electric ball valves or pneumatic ball valves, power source or air source should be cut off at first. 

3. In general, soft seal ball valves use PTFE as sealing materials. The sealing face of hard seal ball valves is bead welded by using metal. When clean pipe ball valves, caution is required in case of damaging sealing which causes leakage during disassemble. 

4. When cleaning valves, used solvents must not corrode parts. Gas ball valves can be cleaned gasoline while other parts are cleaned by using reclaimed water. Residual dust, oil contamination and other fixtures should be cleaned completely. If water cannot clean up, ethyl alcohol and other cleaning agents can be used purposefully for cleaning under the precondition that body and parts are not damaged. When cleaning finished, parts should be assembled after cleaning agents volatilizing completely.   5. If tiny leakage occurs in packing, just intensify nuts on stem slightly. 

6. Valves and parts are corroded and cannot be used for after being stored in the open air for a long term. During storage, ball valves should be protects from rain, water and damp. Blind flange should be fastened tightly. The valves having been stored for more than 12 months must be retest before usage to ensure steady performance.
