Metso have set up a new valve technology centre in South Korea for delivering its valve technology to its Asian customers.
On January 22, 2014, Metso announced the decision to invest in a new greenfield Neles globe valve technology centre in South Korea. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new plant was held on April 22, 2014 in Chung-Ju, South Korea. The new factory will go into production during the last quarter of 2014.
This follows a recent valve technology deal Metso with Sino-Venezuela Guangdong Petrochemical Company for its 20 million ton-per-year heavy crude oil processing project in China. The project contains large Neles valves for the delayed coking process, which requires excellent valve's characteristics of reliability and tightness due to extreme temperatures.
The new plant will provide valve technology for customers in oil and gas industries both locally and globally and strengthen service capabilities for the growing Asian markets. The new valve technology centre include manufacturing, state-of-the-art control valve testing facilities, research and development, laboratory, engineering, and service support units for South Korean engineering, procurement and construction companies.
"The new valve technology centre in South Korea will strengthen our capabilities to develop, produce and deliver our globe valves especially for customers in the oil and gas industries. South Korean engineering, procurement and production companies play a key role in many customer projects worldwide. Within the new facility we can better offer research and development, engineering and service support for them," says Markus Hauhia, director, Metso globe valve product line.
