On June 24th, Sechin, the CEO of Rosneft Oil showed that Russia was considering laying a new gas pipeline to Europe which will reach to Germany in the future.

Sechin said that the newly built gas pipeline will extend to Europe from the seabed of the Black Sea without crossing the neighbor – Ukraine any longer. Rosneft Oil has great interests in transmitting gas to Germany directly from Kaliningrad.

Sechin also warned that EU should not carry out economic sanctions which would have great influence on petroleum industry and oil refinery. Economic sanctions are still being considered. But Russian economy and European economy have already been affected. Although Russia did not reduce investments for European energy economy, German export to Russia had already fallen in the past few months. Both Russia and EU suffer from losses.

The proposal is considered that Russia is trying to trade energy with Europe directly, excluding Ukraine. Since 2006, there have been three big conflicts about energy between Russia and Ukraine.

For sustaining Ukraine crisis, Lavrov, the Foreign Minister also claimed that Russia will build southern gas pipeline in Serbia. Lavrov showed that the southern gas pipeline is the only guarantee to transmit gas to Southern Europe safely. However, some European countries show inhospitality to the proposal. Serbia thinks that it can benefit from the gas pipeline, while Bulgaria disagrees with the program for disobeying EU laws.

Total length of southern gas pipeline is designed to 2,380km, passing through seabed of the Black Sea, crossing Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary and Slovenia on land and connecting Russia with Italia finally.
