Sealing principle of wedge gate valves
Sealing principle of wedge gate valves is that two sealing faces on wedge disc contact tightly with sealing faces on body to realize sealing when wedging. Using wedge disc aims at improving assistant sealing load so that metal sealing wedge gate valves can seal both high pressure and low pressure of media. When close the valves, rotate stem deasil to make sealing faces of disc contact tightly with sealing faces of body. However, due to sealing specific at inlet caused by wedging influenced by media, wedge gate valves are still far from realizing inlet sealing. So, metal sealing wedge gate valves are a kind of single forced sealing.
Application of wedge gate valves
Compared with other types of valves, gate valves are more widely applied. In general, wedge gate valves are only fit for full on or off. The valves cannot be used for regulation or throttling. Wedge gate valves are used for the situations which have no strict requirements for dimensions of valves except for harsh service conditions. Usually, in terms of high pressure, high or low differential pressure, low noise, cavitation and vaporization, high or low temperature, wedge gate valves are recommended. Wedge gate valves are commonly used in power, petroleum refining, petrochemical industry, water supply and sewage treatment in urban construction, chemical engineering, etc.
